PLEASE READ ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE LICENSE AGREEMENT BEFORE CONTINUING. USING OUR SOFTWARE INDICATES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, REMOVE THE SOFTWARE FROM ALL YOUR SYSTEMS.

LICENSE AGREEMENT

Positive Feedback Software, LLC licenses the UNREGISTERED FreePOS (hereafter, FreePOS) software to you only upon the condition that you accept all of the terms contained in this license agreement.

YOU MAY:

(i) use FreePOS on two computers connected to the same file server.

YOU MAY NOT:

(i) sublicense, rent, sell, or lease any portion of FreePOS;

(ii) reverse engineer, de-compile, disassemble, modify, translate, make any attempt to discover the source code of FreePOS, or create derivative works from FreePOS; or

(iii) use FreePOS on more than a total of 3 computers without paying a REGISTRATION FEE.

WARRANTY

Positive Feedback Software, LLC warrants that FreePOS will substantially perform its functions only when FreePOS is used correctly and in accordance with specifications and instructions.

POSITIVE FEEDBACK SOFTWARE, LLC MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

Your sole and exclusive remedy for breach of this warranty is the replacement of the FreePOS or a refund of the purchase price, at the option of Positive Feedback Software, LLC.

Some states do not allow the limitation or exclusion of implied warranties and you may be entitled to additional rights in those states.

DISCLAIMER OF DAMAGES

Positive Feedback Software, LLC has made every effort possible to ensure that FreePOS is free of any bugs or errors, however in no way is FreePOS to be considered error or bug free. You assume all responsibility for any damages or lost data that may result from any errors or bugs in FreePOS.   IT IS A DOCUMENTED FACT THAT WINDOWS XP HAS BUGS IN IT, THEREFORE, IT IS 100% CERTAIN THAT SOME PROBLEMS MAY RESULT FROM THE USE OF FreePOS OR ANY SOFTWARE RUNNING ON WINDOWS XP.

IN NO EVENT WILL POSITIVE FEEDBACK SOFTWARE, LLC OR ITS OWNER(s) BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL OR OTHER DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THIS LICENSE.

In no case shall Positive Feedback Software, LLC or its owner(s) be liable for an amount exceeding  the purchase price for the software and/or services.

GENERAL:

This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and Positive Feedback Software, LLC. You acknowledge and agree that there are no other writings, oral representations or other communications or representations upon which you are relying in entering into this Agreement. Any and all writings, oral representations or other communications or representations that you may have received concerning FreePOS have no effect--it is the terms of this Agreement that will control all issues involving your use of FreePOS.

All rights to FreePOS are owned by Positive Feedback Software, LLC and its owner(s).   These rights are protected by United States copyright laws, international treaty provisions and other applicable laws. Positive Feedback Software, LLC and its owner(s)  retain all rights not expressly granted by this Agreement.

This license shall terminate automatically upon the violation by you of any of the terms stated herein.

This Agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of Virginia.

READ THIS WHILE YOUR FreePOS DOWNLOAD IS RUNNING.

THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL HELP YOU GET STARTED QUICKLY...

 

   

The user ID's are:   10001 (a server) and 1 (a manager).  

FreePOS will auto-install to your C: drive.   However, in a production environment, be sure to copy the FreePOS folder to S:\Freepos.   When FreePOS is installed to the C: drive, some features cannot be activated (i.e.  network credit cards etc).

Before FreePOS can run, you must start the Database Server.   Without DBServer running, the POS system cannot store data.   That's a problem!

To start up station #1, Double-Click the Station #1 Icon  (v5.50 is preconfigured for Table service, Carryout & Delivery modes)  FreePOS has icons which auto install to your desktop folder.

To startup station #2, Double-Click the Station #2 Icon  (v5.50 is preconfigured for Counter Service mode) FreePOS has icons which auto install to your desktop folder.

FreePOS is designed for multiple terminal environments.   If you need help with installation, watch the videos BEFORE you call.   FreePOS is a powerful  network application.   FreePOS requires a fresh copy of Windows XP configured in "Classic Mode" to run full speed.   Watch out for these common problems:

  • Norton Antivirus & McAfee - Will cause noticeable delays when heuristic scanning is enabled.  Use AVG instead if possible.

  • Windows XP Themes - Will cause objectionable redraw times on slower machines.

  • Less than 256MB RAM - Will cause up to 5 second delays in some areas of the application.

  • Excess programs running in the background - Will make FreePOS share processor time and slow down.

  • Receipt printer isn't working - You must run a spooler to enable printing.   FreePOS does not use Windows printers by default because they do not support redirection around a failed device.

  • Credit cards hang - You must be running a credit card server product or the CCDummy application which simulates "dummy" authorizations to station #1.   Just click X to cancel the "Waiting For Approval" message.

BEST ADVICE:   Load a machine with ONLY WINDOWS XP and then install FreePOS.   If you are having still having slow performance or noticeable screen redraw issues:

  1. Turn off SYSTEM RESTORE

  2. Turn ON the Windows Classic Theme

  3. Set video mode to 800x600 16 bit color

  4. Set video accelleration ON

  5. Set Windows to OPTIMIZE FOR FOREGROUND PROGRAM speed

  6. Set swap file to at least 512MB

  7. Make sure you are using 100 Base T mode of your ethernet card

  8. Turn off screen savers

  9. Turn off wall paper

  10. Turn off PERSONALIZED MENUS
